Onion Force!

Yeah! Onions! I like Onions! Great on the BBQ!

In this game the Onion Force is a trio of heroes who are out to... Uh, save their stupid dancing king from being eaten by monsters. Yeah! Aided by the lovely Lady D, I'm sure there is no innuendo, let's take a look.

Yeah, it is another tower defence game. But I enjoyed it more than the one I played earlier in the year. Despite the whole thing being a totally unbalanced mess of a game.

Sure, you can build whimpy towers, however instead consider throwing yourself onto enemies to damage them. That's the tactic with Fighter Man the Warrior at least. Just spin around and launch yourself into the enemies coming right at you, why not!

The Archer and Wizard get knocked out quickly if you do this, being the two ranged classes. But Onion Warrior Dude? Just run into them and auto-whack them! And then get hurt and hide in a tent tower to heal.

So, what about those towers? Honestly, mostly useless trash. Stick down some arrows and sort them out with the hero. Really, they are trash. Mostly. And this is a big mostly.

As with most of this genre you can upgrade them using coins dropped from enemies. And there is a lightning tower. Because every game needs to be blessed by the almighty Thor. Yes I know I could of used Zeus, but Ragnarok was cool.

Anyway, lightning. Sink all your coins and onions (huh, so this is why it was called onion force. Probably.) into this baby and... Well, the game is mostly won at this point.

You may need to SLAM! into the boss monsters to knock then down, or use the mini fighters in some choke points, but once powered up by these things it is all done.

Yeah. The towers are pointless when you get this point. You just need lightning bolts.

The only other thing to take not of is that you can swap out your weapon for a higher attack level. There's a limit to how much your inventory can keep, so clear it out each level for that tasty +2 increase on your current sword or arrow or whatever the hell the spellcaster used.

I called it muddy as the graphics and sound all look and... uh, sound... muddy. It's rather fugly looking but totally functional. Aside from some hitbox detection on buttons you experience a few hours in solved with a close and restart. Buttons clunk, weapons clank, bombs maker explosions.

All in low quality sounding jank.

Yeah. Sorry, not much else I can say. The screenshots make it look better than it plays. Zoom out so you don't have to look at it in greater detail.

Do I recommend this? Oh hell no. And yes I do.

There's just something about this muddy game that was kinda fun. I can't explain it. I played until I completed it.
